He was the fourth son of Richard Smyth of Keereley in com. Lanc., son and heire of Robert Smythe of the same parish of Prescot in the said countie which Robert was elder brother to William Smyth, bishop of Lincolne and founder of Brasenose College in Oxon. 2. Of Rose, the first wife of the said Thomas Smyth, buried here 7 Sept., 1582. Shee was daughter of William Buckner of Botley neare Oxon by Dorothie his wife, daughter of Robert Huckvale of S. Marie Magd. parish in Oxon., gent. 3. Of Alice, the second wife of Thomas, buried 2 June, 1621, daughter of Richard Mayot of Abendon in Berkshire, gent."
