Betham's Abstract of the will of William Bucknor of Coolefin, IRE, 1700 As with most early Irish wills, this one was probably lost in the 1922 Four Courts fire, but a brief abstract has survived. This is William Bucknor who was a member of the Irish parliament for two terms. The will is significant in identifying Thomas Bucknor as his brother and in identifying John Bucknor (d 1671) as another brother via Mary Croker, John's daughter and William's niece. It also suggests that Richard Bucknor was John's second son, though it is remotely possible that Richard was an otherwise unknown son of Thomas, but it makes more sense to view this as evidence that William took in John's then-minor children Richard and Mary. John also had an older son John, though nothing more is known of him after 1671. Most of the later Bucknors in Limerick appear to be descended from Richard. William Bucknor of Coolefin in Co.
